
2010 Trends in electronic commerce: a 360 products
Adobe Systems has released an interesting study of Scene7 customers world whole. If you are not familiar with Scene7, it is a great platform offered by Adobe to help companies create and manage rich media content their e-commerce websites. Target large clients such as Sears and Macy’s of their entry price is steep with an annual charge of about thirty thousand dollars for publishing and managing online catalogs rich media.
Data were collected from November 9, 2009 to January 15, 2010. Covers a variety of industries across the major markets: North America, Asia-Pacific, Western / Eastern Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America. This is a 60-page document that goes into detail to assess how companies plan to adopt the latest developments in digital media in 2010 with a general focus on Interactive Rich Media, Social Media, mobile features and customization. Total 546 companies have provided their comments.
Here’s what we found most interesting:
- Adoption 360 views product is still very low. Only 7% of all players have set up this feature to date. Although, not surprisingly, its growth anticipated adoption 2010 is the highest in the 21 characteristics assessed rich media. 22% of all stakeholders to implement the Plan 360 images of products in 2010. This is an increase of 200%! Combined with 3-D display that shows the second highest rate of adoption of more and more (9% vs. 23% adopted planned) visits and products (13% vs. 23% adopted planed), it is undoubtedly an impressive development. Well established features such Quick Looks that views / refinancing and other images showed marginal growth of adoption with 20% vs. 21% planned and adopted 17% vs. 18% adopted under respectively.
- Visits of the product (spin combinations tours, zoom images, videos or animations with the copy) is ranked in the effectiveness of all the characteristics noted rich media.
- Answering an additional 27% said that 360 spin ability is a more effective product function drive sales conversion compare similar survey in 2009.
- 70% of respondents in North America have less than 10 million dollars in annual sales in quarter of all stakeholders is interactive / advertising agencies.
It is great to see companies embracing media rich, interactive, and while electronic commerce is still in its infancy (Forrester research indicates that only 8% of all sales will be online in 2014), the trend is clear.
